Bideford’s Town Rangers Get a New Home at Caddsdown
Bideford Town Council is celebrating the official opening of the brand-new Town Ranger Depot at Caddsdown Industrial Park! The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Councillor Doug Bushby, Chair of the Staffing, Finance & General Purposes Committee, alongside Town Mayor, Councillor Rachel Clarke.
Councillor Bushby reflected on the journey:
"Back in 2016, we launched our Maintenance Team with just two workers operating from temporary facilities. As the team grew, so did the need for a dedicated space. By 2020, we identified the ideal site at Caddsdown, secured the land, and began planning. Now, with a permanent base, our newly rebranded Town Rangers can continue their fantastic work for the community."
The event was attended by Steve Hearse, Chief Executive of Torridge District Council, along with Town Councillors, Officers, and the Town Rangers themselves. This new depot marks a major milestone for Bideford, promising greater efficiency, long-term cost savings, and enhanced support for local projects. The facility will also serve as storage for Bideford’s much-loved Christmas lights and floral displays, ensuring they remain in top condition year-round.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support of key partners. Special thanks go to C&R Construction for bringing this bespoke depot to life, Graham Blight of Country Cottage Bakery for his generous contributions, and Darren Sparrey of DS Electrical, who provided a temporary home for the Town Rangers in the lead-up to construction.
With this new hub, Bideford’s Town Rangers are ready to keep our town looking its best — now and into the future!
