Bideford's Skate Collective Gets a Winter Boost!

The Make Time Skate Collective MT:SC has landed a fantastic grant from Sport England, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. This funding will help cover the costs of using Bideford Pannier Market throughout winter 2024, ensuring that skaters have a safe, dry place to meet and keep the sessions rolling – no matter how gloomy or wet it gets outside.

And that’s not all! The grant will also support the purchase of new equipment, specialised coaching sessions, and the chance to welcome younger skaters into the fold. It’s a huge win for Bideford’s skateboarding community.

But how did it all begin?

Back in winter 2023, MT:SC teamed up with Bideford Town Council to turn the Pannier Market into their temporary skate haven. With poor lighting, dark evenings, and typical Devon downpours making outdoor skating nearly impossible, the market became a game-changer. It allowed the Collective to run weekly 3-4 hour skate sessions, keeping the stoke alive and the community together through the colder months.
